I don’t know when it was introduced. To invite a new contact to an existing chat, click on “Options” and select “Group Chat”. The problem is that your contact must use the new version of Gmail. I Thought group chat was only present in YM. Whatever, only Gmail has this feature and Gtalk doesn’t have ot. Hope Gtalk will be out of beta soon with all the features added in Gmail.
